Miami's sandbars
Miami's best-known sandbars are Haulover Sandbar, just inside Haulover Inlet in north Biscayne Bay, and Nixon Sandbar, near Key Biscayne in the south of the bay. Both are areas of shallow, sandy water where boats anchor and guests can stand, swim and float. Water clarity depends on the tide and the weather, so your captain picks the timing.
Which sandbar to choose
Haulover is usually the closer option from Haulover, North Bay and Miami Beach departures, and it is busy and lively on weekends. Nixon is closer to Coconut Grove and Key Biscayne departures and can feel calmer. On a longer charter you can combine a sandbar with a cruise past Star Island and the skyline.
Making the most of it
Book at least six hours if the sandbar is the main event. Add a floating mat and paddleboards, and consider jet skis for part of the stop. Bring your own food and drinks, or let us arrange catering so lunch is waiting on board.
